AuraGen VIPERs used by US Coast Guard Response Boat in rescue of Airline Ditch in New York’s Hudson River
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., January 26, 2009 -- Aura Systems, Inc. (OTCBB: AUSI) announced today that the US Coast Guard Boat – Medium (RB-M) that responded to the crash of the USAir flight 1549 into New York City’s Hudson River on January 15th is equipped with the AuraGen/VIPER dual AC/DC system for its electric power needs.
As reported by the Coast Guard on January 16th: “As part of a joint, multi-agency multi-asset response, the RB-M was able to utilize its advanced capabilities to support both the immediate rescue operations and the follow-up recovery work. The Station New York RB-M crew spent the night searching the water using the boat’s FLIR capability to ensure they had recovered all survivors. … The new 45-foot RB-M was designed to meet Coast Guard mission requirements for search and rescue; ports, waterways, and coastal security; drug interdiction; and migrant interdiction. The Coast Guard’s fifth RB-M was delivered to Station New York on Dec. 12, 2008.”
Mr. Ron Goldstein Aura’s VP of sales for military systems said, “The new U.S.C.G RB-M response boats now in production use dual AuraGen/VIPER systems, to provide both AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) power from engine idle to redline. A Dual VIPER configuration provides a total of 16,000 watts of continuous power/18,000 watts of peak power at nominal engine idle, as required.”
M. Gagerman Aura’s CEO said, “Aura’s power system was selected to support the U.S.C.G mid size response after a very long testing and approval cycle. We are pleased with the performance of our system for the demanding job of the Coast Guard and are looking forward for a long and rewarding relationship with the Coast Guard, Kvichak Marine and Marinette Marine the suppliers of the Coast Guard boats.”
The AuraGen VIPER has been supporting US Armed Forces in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and Homeland Security, starting shortly after 9/11. More information is available on the Company's website: http://www.aurasystems.com/.
